Karen Booth Adams
ADVISORY BOARD

Karen has been bringing her "Midas touch" to a host of hot technology projects over the past 15 years and has been the creative visionary and business strategist behind six successful Richmond-based companies prior to PartnerJD.

In 1993, Karen launched her first Richmond-based technology consulting firm, Computer Professionals, Inc., which she grew to over one hundred employees before it was acquired by a public company in 1995. Over the next two years, Karen took on the role of COO. She spearheaded more than 27 acquisitions and led the integration and operations of this $600 million IT consulting firm.

Expecting her first child, she resigned her post and bought a young internet development company in Richmond, Virginia called Tekna. Under her leadership, Tekna quickly developed a national reputation for building sophisticated e-commerce applications and was acquired in 1998, with a subsequent IPO the following year.

Seeking a new challenge, Karen then combined her love of technology with her passion for "tots" as the firepower behind successful e-tailer PoshTots.com. Inspired by her two young daughters, this luxury site features extraordinary children's furnishings by artists from around the world. PoshTots has been featured in publications such as People Magazine, RedBook, The Wall Street Journal, House Beautiful, InStyle, The Washington Post and Better Homes and Gardens for its unique, imaginative style and inspiring story. PoshTots gained an international reputation as the place to go for luxury children's furnishings and was acquired by a public firm in 2006.

Today, Karen is a partner in two successful firms based in Richmond. She is a founder of Fahrenheit Technology - an Information Technology consulting company in its tenth year of operation, and is a founding partner in Ironworks Consulting - a firm specializing in strategic business consulting, application maintenance, and content management systems for Fortune 500 clients.

Following her passion for growing businesses, Karen has also worked with numerous e-business and technology start-up companies as an investor and consultant. She is an experienced speaker on the subject of successful entrepreneurship, buying and selling businesses, and e-commerce issues.

Karen is also an active community member and has served as a visiting professor on the subject of entrepreneurship for five years at the University of Richmond. Karen has served as a board member for several businesses and no-profit associations, including the Medical College of Virginia Hospitality House, Senior Navigator, and Stop Child Abuse Now.
